The Best Energy for a Desk Day: Just Enough Caffeine, Just Enough Electrolytes
Most energy products are built for someone else. The big cans are built for the all-nighter. The big electrolyte packets are built for the two-hour run in July.
But most of us spend the day in a chair, on calls, in spreadsheets, answering one more email. That day needs energy too. Just not that much of it.
Desk energy is a different job
At a desk, you don't need to feel wired. You need to stay sharp, steady, and in a decent mood until the work is done.
Too much caffeine can push you past focused and into jittery. Then comes the crash, and the second can, and the bad sleep. A smaller amount, taken at the right times, usually does the job better.
Electrolytes: match what you lose
Electrolytes are minerals like sodium, potassium, and magnesium. They help your body manage fluid and keep nerves and muscles working. You lose them mostly through sweat.
That's why big electrolyte doses make sense after a long, hard workout or a day in the heat. They make a lot less sense on a Tuesday of spreadsheets.
The way I put it: if you aren't sweating out 2,000mg of salt, you don't need 2,000mg of salt.
Most people already get plenty of sodium from food. The FDA says Americans eat about 3,400mg a day on average, and the Dietary Guidelines recommend less than 2,300mg for adults. Stacking a big salty drink on top of a low-sweat day mostly adds salt you didn't need.
Signs you need more (and signs you don't)
You're probably in "more electrolytes" territory if:
- Your shirt is soaked
- You've been working out hard for over an hour
- It's hot and humid and you've been outside
You probably aren't if you spent the day at your desk. A light amount in your water is plenty.
Why we built WildEnergy for desk days
WildEnergy started from a simple question: what does a person at a desk actually need?
Each effervescent tablet has:
- 60mg of caffeine, about enough to feel it without overdoing it
- 266mg of electrolytes, a light everyday amount, not a sweat-replacement dose
- Cognizin® (citicoline), L-theanine, choline bitartrate, and agmatine sulfate for focus and mood support*
- Vitamin B6, Folate (B9), and Vitamin B12
Just enough to help. Not so much that you overdo it.
How to take it on a workday
Drop one tablet in water in the morning. Let it fizz. Drink it.
When the afternoon lull hits, have a second one. Taking two at once is fine, but spacing them out tends to keep your energy steadier through the day.
